I just had my gallbladder removed 5 months ago. And ever since i have been horrible!!! I would never do it again if i had to do it over. I am always eighter constipated or have such loose stools. I feel sick after i eat and i am always tired. All the doctors i have seen said i have IBS. I am up every night with back pains and gas. I should have never done it!

I had mine out 5 months ago too. I am going through the same thing. I have no energy at all. I always feel like i'm going to faint. I was told i have IBS too and acid reflux. I have massive pains in the area of the surgery and it makes my back hurt too. My stomach is always so swollen i look 5 months pregnant. That is painful in itself. I have the constipation with occasional diarreha. I always feel sick to my stomach. It is extremely painful to have a bowel movement. Doctor's tell me they can't find what's wrong. It's very frustrating. I did read up on celiac disease and wonder if that is the problem. I am going to have my doctor test me for that. It is almost always misdiagnosed as IBS and alot of the symptoms are what i have. It can be triggered when you have abdominal surgery. All i know is this is miserable. I am about to lose my job because i am always so sick and i can't concentrate. I don't know what to do. I wish you well.

>I just had diagnosis of first gallstone. They decided not to do anything at present - and after the experiences i have read on this site - glad i did not opt for surgery. I have the same pattern constipation/ diarrhoea , low mood , fodd reflux , bloating, etc, etc. The doctors tell you it may be high stomach acid. I was on ranitidine and some while ago proton pump inhibitors. THESE CAUSE DEPRESSION. THEY ALSO SCREW UP YOUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM FOR A LONG TIME. If you do have high acid take DGL (deglycyrrhized licorice) - no side effects , no bloating , stops the acid. However, as I say , i think the gallstones are from LOW stomach acid caused by chronic stress. If you suffer stress over a long period, your digestion seems to slow down permanently. You produce less stomach acid and probably other digestive enzymes. I believe this puts a big strain on your liver and gallbladder. So try supplements of multi- enzymes (including betaine hydrochloride) for improved digestion. Try the liver detox diet - no sugar , no alcohol , low fat. Boring but should help. Nevertheless, the KILLER is stress. This is also the most difficult to change because if you have a stressful job you cannot just quit because you have to feed your family. Nevertheless, try cutting down on long hours and make sure you take all your vacation allowance. Hope this is of help.
