I'm in Adelaide, S.Aus. and for about 10 years now I have been doing free research for anyone around the world who wants information about ancestors who came to S.Aus. in the 'early days'. I saw your request re Retchford family, and had a look for information when I was at the library today. The following is what I managed to find:-

ARRIVAL FROM OVERSEAS.

1. Mary Anne Retchford, occupation - bonnet maker/seamstress from Warwick?, aged 39 years, single, and Edmund, shoemaker, single aged 15 years and Richad aged 13 years, all arrived in South Australia aboard the "James Perrie" on 17th November 1854, sailing from Liverpool, England.

MARRIAGES.

1. Edmund Retchford, aged 22 years, marital status not recorded, son of James Retchford married 23/6/1859 to Anne Retta Constable, aged 18 years, marital status not recorded, daughter of John Constable, at St. James Church, Blakiston, District Mount Barker. reference book 38 page 254

2. Thomas Goodger aged 52 years, widower, marital status notrecorded, married 10th May 1856 to Mary Ann Retchford, aged 47 yers, at St. George Church, Gawler, District Barossa reference book 26 page 108 symbol "A" denoting
(1) the Registrar has included additional information on the marriage record and/or (2) the Registrar has made an amendment to the information on the marriage record.

DEATHS.

1. Ann aged 78 of Clare died 10/6/1914 at Clare, wife of Richard, District Clare. reference book 3284 page 397

2 Anne Retta aged 63 years of Goodwood died 14/5/1905 at Goodwood. Widow of Edmund Retchford. Dis. Adelaide reference book 309 page 455

3. Edmund aged 66 years of Adelaide died 19/11/1903 at Adelaide. Informant not recorded. District Adelaide. reference book 298 page 130 symbol "H" denoting Edmund died in a hospital.

4. Jane aged 11 months of Kapunda died 7/10/66 at Kapunda Dis. Kapunda. daughter of Edmund Retchford. refeence book 25 page 335

5. Mary Ann aged 10 years of Kapunda died 15/10/67 at Kapunda Daughter of Edmund Retchford. District Kapunda. reference book 28 page 581.

I always quote book and page reference nos. when I send off information, as by quoting them, you would receive a small discount if purchasing a BDM certificate from the Adelaide Registrar of BDM.
