Subject: Quertermous Family

I have been doing research on the Quertermous family with all of its various spellings. I have records dating to the mid-1600s arriving in Dorchester County, Maryland, USA. I too have the JOHN J. G. QUATERMASS report on the family name but find much of it to be wrong or not in agreement with my research but there are so many spellings. I even have a Catermis and a Katermis spelling but most frequently from the late 1600's as Quertermous. They arrived from England but I can not make a connection back to England or completely sort the family relationships until the early 1700's but there are many records in Maryland which I have yet to go and do on the ground research. I have no records of the family in New England. My branch left Maryland and for the most part traveled across Maryland and Pennsylvania ending up along the Ohio River in Kentucky. Others at various points traveled the river ways further down the Ohio and Mississippi to Missouri and Arkansas. There are also records of family in Georgia. I would be interested in seeing what you have and sharing as long as we are working the same relations but that is often hard to tell.
