I'v a problem with my dsl-driver.
I'm using
RedHat 9.0 standardinstall.
rp-pppoe 3.5-2 (from the RH-CD)

Feb 17 22:13:45 gateway pppd[14651]: ioctl(PPPIOCSASYNCMAP): Inappropriate ioctl for device(25) \\don't know this, and followups
Feb 17 22:13:45 gateway pppd[14651]: tcflush failed: Input/output error
Feb 17 22:13:45 gateway pppd[14651]: Exit.
Feb 17 22:13:46 gateway /etc/hotplug/net.agent: NET unregister event not supported
so - thats not all - after pppd every morning is shut down, i wrote a script, what brings it up at 6:29 am
Feb 18 06:29:01 gateway pppd[16443]: pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0

Feb 18 06:32:22 gateway pppd[16443]: Starting link \\6:32 fetchmail wats to checkup accounts
Feb 18 06:32:22 gateway pppd[16443]: Serial connection established.
Feb 18 06:32:22 gateway pppd[16443]: Couldn't get channel number: Input/output error \\what the heck is this??
Feb 18 06:33:07 gateway pppd[16443]: Starting link
Feb 18 06:33:07 gateway pppd[16443]: Serial connection established.
Feb 18 06:33:07 gateway pppd[16443]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/0
Feb 18 06:33:07 gateway pppd[16443]: Modem hangup \\why it hangs up?
Feb 18 06:33:07 gateway pppd[16443]: Connection terminated.
in this, or similar style it goes, till the pppd exits (when I'm late) or connects without any problems if I ping at the console as root.
(i've tryed to ping google.de within the every-morning-pppd-wakeupscript - but the effect is the same as fetchmail would connect)
knows anybody a answer?
where could be a reason?
thanks, Micha
