Hello.
As per the subject field, whenever I use either SSH/VNC (and on rare ocassions simply SSH itself) or Terminal Services Client, my ADSL connection will die - usually within minutes of initiating one of the aforementioned programs. In fact, my connection is almost always guaranteeed to die within 3 minutes of initiating a SSH/VNC session whereas when using Terminal Services Client, the connection will not die as soon.
Upon the connection being reestablished, the SSH/VNC session will continue, but the connection will die again soon afterwards. Same with Terminal Service Client except the window closes saying "connection reset by peer".
Typically, I see one of two messages in my log when a disconnection occurs in these instances. Either:
i) ...received PADT from peer
or
ii) No response to 3 echo-requests
Serial link appears to be disconnected.
Connection terminated.
Also, i have found that if I leave xMule running while I am at work, then when I return home 9 hours later, xMule will invariably have crashed due to my connection being terminated at some point during the day (usually 1 hour after I leave my house). In those instances, this is wahat is recorded to the system log:
Bad TCP checksum XXXX
...received PADT from peer
Where "XXXX" could be any 4 digit Hex number or even 3 digit number like '100'.
So would anyone know as to what could be causing this - because its driving me nuts. Could it be RPPPOE or my provider or my modem (Alcatel Speedtouch Home) perhaps? Any suggestions/insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
