Subject: hi NC, according to the Security Bureau/Immigration Department, it does say that it has to be between a man and a woman (please click into this message to read the response from Security Bureau/Immigration Department to the Home Affairs Burea for the up coming Sexual minorities forum). thus i am afraid your partner has to find some other means to stay in hk other than being sponsored by you as your partner/spouse. sorry :(

In reply to: NC 's message, "Immigrateion rules did not say partner has to be M & F, but they did not actaully reply my question. I have not do anything yet, I am not sure whether my partner wanted to stay in HK with me or not. If she wanted to stay in Hong kong, I will put the application see how. I worry if they do not alow my partner to stay in HK, then she has to leave and will never able to visit HK again!" on 03:12:49 02/11/06 Sat

Application for Entry of Foreign Partners of
Same-sex Couples into Hong Kong
Under Hong Kong law, marriage is a formal ceremony
recognized by the law as involving the ¡¥voluntary union for life of one
man and one woman to the exclusion of all others.¡¦ The existing
immigration policy on admission of spouses as a dependant is based on
monogamy and the concept of a married couple consisting of one male
and one female.
2. Subject to the satisfaction of all relevant immigration
requirements, a dependant visa may be granted to a spouse to join his/her
sponsor for residence in Hong Kong. The marriage between the couple
must be monogamous and the voluntary union for life of one man and
one woman to the exclusion of all others. It must also be recognized by
the Laws of Hong Kong.
3. For persons who are not married to a Hong Kong sponsor, but are
committed to each other as persons who are married, they are not covered
under the dependant policy to join his/her sponsor. Any entry
application from these persons may be considered on its individual
merits.
