Subject: thx so much vihara... it's kind of touching to be "allowed" to have freedom to choose our id or to choose without an id when we tell ppl we love women. ppl usually put u into a box right away and then close the lid and then you're judged and categorized and a string of stereotypes, assumptions are imposed on you. i don't mind marching on street claiming a collective id such as lesbian or TB or transgender or queer or whatever political, but down the "stage", we're all different individuals. and how can i suddenly tatoo any label onto my body as if it's something inborn? how can i feel suddenly "oh i'm a lesbian" once i fall for a girl? it's a group id but it might not be a personal/individual/inborn identification.

In reply to: vihara 's message, "hi ¤p®ä, thnx 4 ur message regarding the label of lesbian. i suppose some people feel comfortable with such a label because they feel that it describe who they are perfectly. however, not all women who are attracted to women feel comfortable with it. eg those who are attracted to both male and female; those who are attracted to women but also feel that they are men inside; those who view sexuality as something fluid and hence not subject to a label.... the list can go on forever. the bottom line is that it is just as important to respect those who identify themselves as gay/lesbian/transgender/bisexual as those who prefer not to have a label at all (or if forced to have a label, they would call themselves queer instead). what do u think?" on 04:51:38 11/28/03 Fri
