Subject: sick rabbit

hi. my rabbit, Humphrey, is almost 9 years old. A few days ago he had trouble standing and now he cannot use his back leg at all. he lies on his side and when he is fed...will willingly take both food and water. i have owned rabbits before and i fear that because of his age he will simply be put to sleep at the vet. we are going to bathe him tonight and try to keep him happy but any ideas where something like this would come from??? or what we can do??? or what is sounds like??? thanks so much.
