There's some debate about lucerne hay (alfalfa hay) and rabbits. Some actually say that it is not good for rabbits and causes them to have high calcium deposits in their urine which can lead to health problems in rabbits. However alfalfa is very tasty to rabbits!! I feed my buns Timothy hay as it is high in fiber and low in protein and calcium. House Rabbit Society has a good page on hay: http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-3/fiber.html
They have a suggestion on there about if your bun won't eat say Timothy hay try mixing 50/50 alfalfa and the Timothy hay.
