Maybe the rabbit is suffering from the effects of some sort of toxin possibly from bacteria. I've never had any experience with this sort of thing (although I'm doing a course involving microbiology) but it might be good to keep it in a dark, quiet place and avoid disturbing it too much until you can take it to the vet. Referring to what your vet said, the parents' droppings would contain some bacteria that are normally found in the gut of healthy rabbits. By eating the droppings, the 'good' bacteria would be able to proliferate and discourage the growth of 'bad' bacteria (the ones that would make the rabbit sick). As far as I know, antibodies are transferred from the mother to her offspring through her milk. Hope the little guy makes it!
