Rabbits kept outside in Australia can be infected
by Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease and Myxomatosis.

PS Dont forget to tell your friend to flywire the hutch or enclosure if she
adopts another rabbit and keeps the rabbit outside.
Mosquitoes, fleas and flies and "biting and sucking insects"
carry RHD and Myxo. Both diseases are deadly killers of rabbits and
I believe both are spread in NSW to kill wild rabbits. Wild rabbits may also
carry these diseases. There is an annual vaccine against RHD but no
vaccine against Myxo.
