Eleanor,

The book is a collection of essays, as you may know, about cookery topics. Are you interested in whether it would fit into a thesis? I guess that would depend on the nature of the thesis. I don't know that it would help you in developing themes about Barnes's novels, but if you're interested in writing about Barnes's non-fiction (Letters from London, Something to Declare, Land of Pain), then I would think Pedant would need to be included. It's a wonderful book, incidentally. I think it captures Barnes's personality very well and is very funny.

Worth taking a look, I'd say.

Ryan
