Hi,

I was surprised to read that you were disappointed with "Love, Etc.". Could you be more specific about what disappointed you?

I would be curious to hear whether you've read "Talking It Over", to which "Love, Etc." is a sequel. I must admit I find these novels compelling, primarily due to the competing and cooperating voices produced within them.

You mention that you're struggling to find a decent "British" novelist -- is there a particular reason you're interested in the national/cultural identity of the authors you are reading?

I will happily admit that I'm biased--I've been a huge fan of Barnes's writing for years, and anticipate each new work eagerly. If you are willing to elaborate on the reasons for your disappointment I'd be happy to read them!

All the best,

Erica
