Subject: Calling all former US Army Field Band members

I need your help in a project I'm currently working on - a highlight DVD featuring the band and former members - their recollections and remembrances. The DVD/video will be a key part of the 60th Anniversary celebration (August - 2006) and will be made available to all former members of the band. Along with recorded segments of Field Band performances will be a collage of comments by former members of the band as they share stories, good memories, and highlights during their tenure in the band.

Work has begun on the project and I have already videotaped hours of interviews with some of the former commanding officers and a number of retirees who live in the Ft. Meade area. Their stories are great and I know you will enjoying hearing what they have to say as they reflect back on their years with the band.

I NEED MORE! Please drop me a note via email and let me know how I may be able to get in touch with you. The project can accommodate all forms of input from you - your comments made on a video or audio tape, a telephone interview with me, an email with comments and stories to share, a letter, some photographs, etc. etc.

I look forward to hearing from many members of the Retiree/Alumni group so that the DVD can represent a good cross section of the band.

In the photo section of the alumni website there are several color pics that that I sent in AFTER THE 50TH REUNION. Please feel free to use any of those. I am pretty proud of them. I still have the slides AND I have a floppy with them on it. I woiuld be flattered for them to be used in your 60th project. I would love to be there but I am no longer physically able to travel.

I wish you the best for the project. The 50th reunion was a masterpiece of organization and planning ! I am sure that this one will be too.

I apologize for being so slow in responding to your wire, but to be honest, I don't think I saw it.
Briefly, I was a member when the band was known as the "U.S. Army Ground Forces Band (1946) under the direction of Major Chester E. Whiting. Soon after, it was named the U.S. Army Field Band. I also have many pictures which I shared with the band members on the Jazz Ambassadors when they were here on tour. One of the pictures was of the bus caravan when the band was the "Combat Infantry Band". Give me a call if you have questions. Will be most happy to try and answer them.
