Subject: Orange County NC Update

Thank you for contacting the AKC's Canine Legislation regarding possible breed-specific legislation in Orange County. We appreciate your passing this information along.

The Canine Legislation department is aware of the situation and has been working with local dog owners and elected officials to oppose it. Though the April 9th meeting was not open to the public, AKC sent a statement and information packet to both the Board of Commissioners of the Board of Health Committee. We are pleased to report that the meeting went very well, and the health committee has elected to back away from breed-specific legislation.
