The Hydraulic part of the clutch mechanism operates the clutch release, lack of hydraulic fluid will not cause the clutch to slip. Clutch slipping is probably the clutch friction plate which has worn out, or has been contaminated by an oil leak. Either way, it needs to be replaced.
