...there is the school of thought that when a b-ball player gets into trouble, well, if he's talented, making a living at b-ball is his best way out of it.

I agree with that, up to the point that, if he wanted out of the situation that badly, why not stay in the gym during every free moment, work on the game, get ready for "The League". AVOID THE TROUBLE!

If a player has free time enough to skip class and assault someone, it appears to me, he should spend that extra time working on his game, not building up a felony sheet, AS LONG AS IMPROVING THE GAME IS THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THAT SITUATION.

Having said that, fine. It's never too late for an individual to reform. One thing, though: sooner or later, it's up to the kid to decide what to do. If Huggs decides to take someone in, that's fine. A lot of times it works out, but if a reclamation project DOESN'T work out, we shouldn't complain about the heat, because Huggs is the one who took the risk.

I fully respect Huggs gonads in those situations, but he needs to accept the responsibilty when it doesn't work out.

By the same token, his way should be credited for those that work out. I really don't see enough credit given there.

  • I disagree. Possibly 3 JUCO's and one of them, Bender would have 3 years left since Louisville kicked him off the team.....he didn't choose to transfer. -- Chatter, 09:00:56 08/31/02 Sat
