I wonder how many people have heard about the Svlabard Global Seed Vault. There was an article about it on tv last night. Very interesting. It's dubbed the Doomsday Vault and is located on the Norwegian island of Spitzbergen. It has the capacity to hold 2.25 billion seeds from all over the world, and can preserve seeds in the freezing temperatures for hundreds of years. They are busy packing and storing the seeds there now because they say it can withstand any global catastrophe.

Although they say that they are doing it in case of loss of diversity in traditional genebanks, one has to wonder. The Norwegians are said to have built many underground shelters for the 'chosen', ie professional people, doctors, scientists, politicians etc. A Norwegian politician has written an article about it, and said that the rest of us should take warning.

Other countries also have hidden underground shelters. Switzerland is said to have enough shelters to take their whole population.

Well, I haven't heard of any in Australia, so I suppose we'll have to start digging! (tongue in cheek). There's a lot more going on than we, the ordinary folk, could ever imagine.
