Revolutionary and Easter greetings to you, the faithful and true Republicans gathered here today and at gravesides of our patriot dead throughout Ireland and around the world where Republicans gather to honour Irelands dead, our dead.
On this, the 86th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising, Republican POWs find themselves once again in a struggle for political status. Those who would try to criminalise us today would have done the same 86 years ago. They couldn't do it then. They won't do it now.
In Maghaberry Gaol we will honour our patriot dead in our own way. Although alone in Brit cells and our comrades in Free State cells, the spirit of Irelands fallen will be with us. It is their spirit that gives us the strength to carry on our struggle for political status and to see it through to the end, until political status as a right is restored to Irish Republican POWs.
Today you, the faithful and true Republicans carry the most sacred of all things this noble cause of the Irish Republic. You face a combined anti-Irish Republic, anti-Republican force, an unholy alliance of Brits, Free Staters and the counter-Revolutionary Provisionals.
Make no mistake about it, Revolutionaries who conform, who become part of the very system they once struggled to remove, are counter-revolutionaries and should be seen as nothing other than that. The Provisionals now strive to make these illegitimate statelets forced on Ireland workable. Time and time again we have seen the Provisionals do what they said they'll never do. Ireland has known the traitor, no more so than today.
Republican POWs call on our people to eject the partitionist set-up that is being forced on us. To our youth we say do not become part of any partitionist political police force under whatever guise it may come. Do not do Englands bidding but join with us, the Republican Movement to remove the cause of all Irelands ills. In the words of Tone to "break the connection with England".
Twenty-one years on since the H-Block Martyrs give their there all in the dark H-Blocks of Long Kesh Republican POWs find themselves once again in the same struggle. A battle is being fought to have that which our H-Block Martyrs died for, that that was lost with the signing of the Stormont Agreement, to have political status restored. We call on everyone to become involved in this struggle.
By criminalising the POWs the Brits believe they will criminalise over 800 years of Irelands freedom struggle. We the POWs will not let this happen. With the censorship, total against the issue of political status. We need the support of you the people to highlight our struggle, as so many times before it is you the Republican people of Ireland who will see the criminalisation policy of England smashed.
