I was sent to a senior approved school where they caned quite a few of us regularly. I tried to get comp but we were told that caning was legal then, and anything not in the punshment book couldn't be proved.
When I came out on license they put me to live with a retired Borstal Officer and he showed me a cane the first day I moved in. He made it clear that if I refused his 'discipline' I would be back inside.
We could have got comp from him, but they found out he'd died years ago, and about 10 of us had gone through his hands over the years he'd been taking lads on license.
