Yeah, I was there in 1961/62 ARIAL house, we started the rugby. Vice governer Sandys made us get up from our beds one saturday afternoon( we called it "gonking", more like wanking really) and led us out on to the pitch and informed us that those who would like to play rugger would be able to get out twice a month, and if we didn't we were to run about the place doing press ups and other mind blowing, ball breaking stuff: We got a team together,( some of us had never played before including me ) and did quite well locally against such teams as the Bedford Swifts, ( they weren't, we were!) I carried on outside, playing for Twickenham first team when they had young all blacks and south africans, great club, happy memories! I went on to play and train a team here where I've lived for the last
35 yrs in France near Beziers, real rugby country! Funnily enough, a bloke turned up quite by chance, in this village a few years ago, who was in my dorm when I was dorm leader, Mike Bryant, anyone remember? My close mates was A Mancunian ,turnbull, in Jupiter, and Hodgekins(son) Hodge to me, in Neptune!We started the secret society "The Feathers", and caused quite a bit of havoc in aand around the place! Don't have many clear memeories as such, bits here and there ,the W/End school to the Cambridge colleges.What names to drop later on in the Hampstead circle! "Yes, I'd been to Christchurch 'n' Jesus, 'n' Emanuelle,'n' all the others" Only later did I explain! Drop a line if your out there and would like to freshen my fading souvenirs, Amic, Ray Everitt!
