I was a prison officer from 1963 to 1996, i was a p.e. instructor for some years working in borstal institutions and personally feel that the film Scum is in no way a true reflection of Borstal instutions.I was proud to be involved in the system and am convinced that a vast amount of Borstal Boys gained a lot from the time spent in the system.I remember some fine lads who went on to greater things and many that i would like to meet up with again.
