Subject: My mom told me that since she was paying for my school, I had to carry a full load every quarter. Matt is such a neat guy, and I have a feeling that once he really gets into his classes he will make some friends. After the first quarter, I didn't hang with my roommates at all. The eating, weight, exercise that's all on him now. He's only been there alone for a week, and he was a real Mama's boy before that, so the homesickness is probably overwhelming. And I can't imagine how much you miss him. I think the emotional stuff is entirely normal. Don't let him drop the class, tell him to watch what he eats. Tell to get out and walk around campus so he has a chance to meet some other people, cry into your pillow at night, and pray that it all works out. You are in my thoughts. (((Tam and Mtt)))

[> I haven't been thru this and I didn't live in a dorm but I agree with Tanya that first year roommates don't usually become your BFFs (so I hear). Also agree that he needs to keep going to classes and he will find buddies to grab lunch with etc after class. Hugs to both of you, I know it's a terribly hard adjustment. Maybe your folks or Steve's Mom can take him out to dinner or something during the week, just to give him a little taste of home/family? You are both in my thoughts!! -- MaryC in KY, 10:56:48 08/31/09 Mon
