Subject: Thanks y'all. Matt's family doctor originally reccommended the surgery. There are many studdies that say the best thing for teens and young adults is surgery. I think it falls into the frame of mind that if they got that big that young they need the help. Matt had to go to a seminar, get clearance from a psychiatrist, and from nutrition department. He's done all this. We had him seeing a counselor but he won't go anymore. Steve and I went to marriage counseling this time last year and it turned into the "How can we make Steve feel better Show". We stopped going when I started working full time. I'd been going myself to a diiffernect counselor who I adored, but she "graduated" me. lol >>>

I think I'm going to look at Jenny Craig, NutriSystem and Mediplus. I just feel like time is ticking away. He is 20 years old. He can only remain on Steve's insurance as long as he is a full time student and age 23 or 25 (I need to check on this) Then poof...he's on his own. We have to go through the navy hospital, which I really don't mind. It's a great one and I have had excellent care there through the years. I think the losing 50lbs is standard due to wanting them to give it one more try on their own, plus getting them in a "healthier mindset" etc. PLUS it make the surgery easier on Matt's body and easier for the surgeon if he is smaller. BUT...I just feel this ticking time bomb with each calendar day.

My job...I had my dram job teaching art at Kaitlyn's HS, we didn't have the numbers to support 4 art teachers. There was an opening at the last HS I subbed at so I thought maybe there. They didn't even bring me in for an interview. The principal was new there and transferred the art teacher from her old elementary into the job without an interview process. So...back to subbing.

Steve retires next September...just having him home for a long weekend drives me crazy. I think about leaving him every day but what would I do? Where would I go? I don't think he'd leave the house, he'd make me go and that would kill Kaitlyn. He drives her nuts on a daily basis. She connstantly says how she wishhes he'd move back to DC. How nice it was to just see him on the weekends. How sad is THAT! He won't go back to sea. He's basically winding down his career. Not sure what he'll do next.

[> [> Sorry about your job, I wondering what happened. I'm so sorry about Matt . Don't you wish you could just shake them and make them see sense. I don't have the answer to your problems, I wish I did. But I do think perhaps a Vegas trip or something might help?!?!? -- Cherie, 10:21:48 09/01/11 Thu

[> [> Oh my. So much stress! It's terrible for everyone. I can so sympathize with your dilemma with Steve though. Luckily, things got better with between Thom and I but it was touchy for a while. Mind you my getting sick was kind of a help in an odd way but I sure wouldn't wish that on anyone. Major hugs to you and the kids. -- Aislinn, 17:56:45 09/01/11 Thu
