Subject: Tam, when I looked into lap-band surgery several years ago, they didnt' require that I lose weight, but that I join a program for X number of months to show that I could stick to a strict lifestyle change. Could you talk to the doctor about that? I know the reason behind some of it is that if the patient can't prove they can change and follow the rules then the surgery will only be a temporary fix. Even if he loses 200 pounds, if he doesn't stick to the eating rules for the rest of his life the weight will come back. (((Hugs to you and yours))))

[> Tam, my BIL had this surgery several years ago and is doing great. He was overweight his most of his life and at around age of 50 had the surgery. He is a long time teacher and now vp at a 7-12 school. He is the kindest, easiest going, smartest guy. My sisters and I call him the Good Egg of all the spouses. All I have to do is ask him and he will call or email you or your son without blinking an I. If your intereseted email me. I've been on these boards for years, mostly lurking, but I am not an ax murderer. On the DH front we are in a similar place and all I can offer you are my prayers. -- Toddles(Michelle too), 20:55:56 09/08/11 Thu
