Subject: Don't forget my house and car is always full of 13-15 yr old girls. I've seen more "I love Edward, Bite Me," shirts, bags, posters then you can believe. And somehow I have the ONLY 14 yr old girl in the country who isn't into vampires. WTF???? Her friends are Twilight crazy.
In reply to: Jodi YoB 's message, "I'm just about at the end of Twilight and had a hard time with it until there was actually a story. *g* I just kept wondering how so many adults have gotten through it but now that we're done with all the completely unrealistic, first love bit I can see perhaps enjoying them from here. But if she keeps up with the high school students straight out of the 50s I'm not so sure I can take it. *g* I'm also a bit concerned about these being the only vamp stories in history that allow daylight fraternizing and not just if you are a 1000 year old vamp and can take it. This series is so popular, a whole generation of new vamp lovers could completely rewrite folklore! On another note, I saw a tween wearing a shirt that said on the back, "My life is yours now - Edward" (or whatever he says..."You are my life" maybe?) and just rolled my eyes. I'm such a cynical bitch but I feel kinda bad for young girls if this is what they hope to find. It ain't out there in your teens. *g*" on 23:07:25 06/18/09 Thu

[> [> [> [> She's not the only one, Cherie. My 14-year-old niece just rolls her eyes and makes disgusted noises when Twilight is mentioned. She hated the film and refuses to read the books, saying all her friends have read it so why bother? She's heard the entire story line ad nauseum. *G* She greatly prefers books where the heroine picks up a sword and takes charge of her own life. Go Alyssa! -- Shads, 10:51:12 06/19/09 Fri

[> [> [> [> [> I don't know what Josie has against vampires. I think part of it was because everyone was so crazy about it, she refused to comform. She did watch the movie with me on the plane and thought it was ok. She's not a big reader but seems to like paranormal. I think she's just not into the romance thing yet. -- Cherie, 11:48:34 06/19/09 Fri

[> [> [> [> Huh....I finished Twilight and was going to pick up the next one while Nate is still napping and just realized my neighbour gave me the first and fourth books (we traded a whack last summer). So I checked the library.....nothing! Is it possible the library doesn't carry this series??? If they carry LKH and the like, what could possibly be their beef with this series? -- Jodi YoB, 14:22:32 06/19/09 Fri

[> [> [> [> [> The Twilight books are so popular that I couldn't get them from the library, even though they own like 20 copies of each title. (I was close to triple digits on the waiting lists) I borrowed them from my neighbor. -- Shads, 15:20:42 06/19/09 Fri

[> [> [> [> [> [> Our library was always out - I borrowed from a friend and then started buying them whenever I saw them on sale. Odd that a library wouldn't carry them though given the popularity of the books. -- Robyn, 15:56:40 06/19/09 Fri

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> Okay, a) I was typing "Stephenie" wrong and b) the search filter is the shits and rather than list the closest search results first it was showing results with any part of the title in seemingly random order. Nice. So they are there. They have a new website and it's just crap. You used to be able to see what hold number you were but it doesn't tell you that anymore either. -- Jodi YoB, 23:31:25 06/21/09 Sun

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Yes it does *G* you have to click on Holds then Details and it will tell you there what number you are. It's pissing me off too -- Cherie, 15:58:46 06/22/09 Mon

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Mine doesn't. There is a heading "Queue" but it's blank. *g* ie. I looked up my hold for Finger Licking Fifteen and it says there are 504 holds but with nothing under "Queue" I don't know what f$@%ing number I am. Except I do because when I placed the hold four months ago I phoned to bitch about the new website (first week up at that point) and she told me I appeared to be first in line. So I think I'm number 1. But I leave on Friday for 10 days so hopefully it gets released this week so I can take it with me. -- Jodi YoB, 20:23:46 06/22/09 Mon

[> [> [> [> [> [> I typed in the author and New Moon....nothing came up! Well, a bunch of other titles for Stephanie Meyer but none of the Twilight ones. Maybe a glitch today. No worries, my 13 year old niece has them all so I'm picking up 2 and 3 tonight. *g* -- Jodi YoB, 17:43:44 06/19/09 Fri
