Regine Velasquez, a P1-million winner
Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez proved once more she truly excels in her field — music! — when she won the million-peso prize in last Sunday’s "K the R1-million Videoke Challenge" on GMA-7. It was effortless on her part, winning the contest and knowing the songs, but Regine confessed to being very nervous last Sunday.
It was Regine’s second time to win the million peso grand prize and she said "I’m not gonna do this again!" That remains to be seen of course, especially so that by winning, she was able to share her bounty to a lucky home partner (who’ll get half a million pesos!) and she also got a wish fulfilled. And this is for the sick wife of a staff of "Forever In My Heart" (which premieres on Sept. 27). Regine wished for medical assistance for the very sick woman and she got it from the network.
It was fun watching Regine and her fellow contestants – Ariel Rivera (her co-star in "Forever In My Heart"), Pinky Marquez, Juan Rodrigo, Gabby Eigenmann and Krista Ranillo – go through the rounds to the finish. We’re sure it was a very tough job for Christopher de Leon to decide who to send to the "door" (of elimination) every after each round. Because they were all very good, but like in every contest, there has to be losers and winners.
Regine took the chance to thank GMA-7 for giving her her very first soap opera — "Forever In My Heart." It’s a show she also helped conceptualized from the very beginning. It’s about a woman searching for her soulmate in life. So who will it be: Ariel Rivera or Richard Gomez? "You’ll find out in the end," Regine said.
Aside from it being her very first soap opera, it’s also the first time that Regine and Ariel (they were once sweethearts remember?) are working together in a project. They both admitted to feeling awkward at first but being professionals, they quickly overcame their feelings of unease. Working together then became comfortable and easy.
Described as GMA’s most romantic offering, "Forever In My Heart" is a moving tale of three people’s search for their soulmate. Also billed as a love story "that is made in heaven and found on earth," the soap opera is directed by Mark Reyes and Phil Noble and also features today’s hottest teen idols, the "Starstruck" ultimate survivors Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras. Also in the cast are Pinky de Leon, Freddie Webb, Juan Rodrigo, Jean Saburit, Pinky Marquez, Gabby Eigenmann, Maureen Larrazabal, Cindy Kurleto, Krista Ranillo, Jackie Castillejo, Andrew Schimmer, Katrina Halili and Janelle Jamer.
The story goes: Regine is Angeline Sagrado, a wedding planner who is a hopeless romantic. A true believer of soulmates and unconditional love that lasts forever, she finds herself torn between teo men: Raphael Cruzado (Richard Gomez), a man with a dark past whose angry outlook in life changes in the name of his love for Angeline; and Michael Bernabe (Ariel), a man of great honor and integrity who starts to doubt everything in his life, even his love for the woman he is about to marry, when he feels that unmistakable spark upon meeting Angeline one tragic day.
Watch out for the premiere of "Forever In My Heart" (on Sept. 27, within the primetime Telebabad block of GMA-7), a poignant love story that will surely touch the heart of televiewers.
