Greetings Regine fans, mailing list members
and cyberland passengers looking out their
windows(2000),

Now that our American Idol's asian wonder gurl
has done what no other American-Pinoy music artist
accomplished before . .

Its time to put our focus on the local front and
find out why a pure-blooded pinoy can't do their own
musical stand-outs that would be just as meaningful and
significant as what Jasmine & Camile accomplished
in their own special kind of way. You know the whole
country was coming together for Jasmine her last few
weeks on that very popular TV show AMERICAN IDOL.

To name a local homegrown artist that should have
what it takes to make her own inroads in music?

Regine Velasquez would be the artist that comes to mind.

Why hasn't more musical greatest come to pass for
the country's number one female recording artist
in Philippine music history?

(If this was an election .. the closest runner up
would have gotten about 10 percent of the vote to
her 89 percent. One percent undecided. hehe..)

Intriguing tidbits I been told about-

That at one time people associating/with ties to
ARTISTA RECORDS was interested in Regine Velasquez?
( The same company that Clive Davis was/still is (?)
associated with. The same Clive Davis giving away
a recording contract to the next final winner of
American Idol.)

That Sony Records was interested in Regine not once
but at several times when it was beig runned overall
by Mariah Carey's ex-husband. Some guy named Tony,
they say. lol..

That David Foster at his musical peak of being a hit
album producer/hit song writer not only had a keen
interest in Regine's voice but wanted to be one of
the people personally managing and handling her
career? It is believed to be one of the first times
he shown that kind of interest in an music artist.

It is not known what happened with that incredible
musical possibility. The reasons why it wasn't being
mentioned in Phil music news or why it did not come
about. But there is definite information about what
Foster did do in music sometime after he may have
lost his interest in working with Regine. He produced
two acclaimed hit albums for 2 of music's greatest female
artists-Whitney Houston's "The Bodyguard Soundtrack"
and Barbra Streisand's "The Broadway Album"

Seems his disappointment with missing out with Regine
could only be compensated by producing some of his
best work for two female artists that were closest
to working with Regine herself. As well as two of
her musical idols at one time..

David Foster also was able to have his own artist
to manage and work with too since first choice Regine
was ot successful. He ended up with an new and unknown
African-American who gained alot of attention with her
first hit song and hit debut album. It was Brandy. The same
music artist who worked with Whitney Houston and one of our
own Fil-Am actors in the TV movie 'Cinderella'!

All irony that has to do with Regine are always the
most deafening you will ever experience. One biography
about her starts off referring to her 'Cinderella-like'
music career.

(to be continue.. )

Information sources vary..
