As it is, Chairman Gozon was named one of the Philippines’ 100 most powerful persons by leading local business magazine, BizNews Asia, for the second year in a row. Gozon ranked seventeenth (17th) in this year’s elite roster, which includes business and government leaders. Gozon placed ahead of rival ABS-CBN’s CEO Gabby Lopez, who ranked 21st. The GMA Network CEO was cited for leading the company in achieving its objective of being No.1 after taking over the Network’s management just three years ago. The magazine also credited Gozon for making GMA-7 more profitable than its rival and for edging its competitor in the TV ratings battle. Under Gozon’s leadership, GMA Network achieved record-breaking sales and revenues, surpassing all its revenue targets in 2002 and 2003. By continuously introducing innovative TV programs, GMA-7 was finally able to wrest the top spot in total day ratings from its biggest rival and continues to lead the overall ratings game as of February 2004.
