Regine Velasquez is off to the final stage of her search for a new singing star as she emcees the finals night of Search for a Star, produced by Viva Television and GMA 7. Tonight, the weekly competition gives newcomers a chance to showcase their talents with the guidance of experts in the entertainment industry comes to a close with one contestant emerging as the winner of P1 million in cash and a house and lot from Crown Asia.

The grand finals of Search for a Star gives Regine a chance to relive her early days as a newcomer trying to make it via the talent show circuit.

Regine was discovered in Bagong Kampeon, a famous talent show on television where she also won in the yearly finals with a prize of P20,000. From this humble start she rose to become a successful singing star and movie actress with hit albums and sold-out concerts.

Contestants in Search for a Star go through various stages of audition, after which, those selected to join the show are advised on what to sing, what to wear and how to project themselves on stage. Though there are experts tasked with doing this, Regine takes it upon herself to give some pointers if needed or to make them feel at ease before the camera.

This year�s Search for a Star finalists are Tina Braganza, Jerriane Mae Templo, Iris Malazarte, Sarah Jean Badana, Romelo Valena, Rachelle Ann Go, Cherry Ubasa, Ma. Camille Relevo, Raymond Manalo and Genevieve Villabroza.
