from this article i know the writer lives in america and love it so much and that is all he should be qualified to talk about

to the writer mr delfin:

i have nothing against american influence on filipino culture, i have nothing against george bush war on iraq, whether it is was for oil or to fight terrorism, I also do not have anything against the anti-war protestors, naive they may be to be burning flags, they are influenced by leftist and arab propanganda, at least they are not hippies right, but nothing could be more naive when you suggest that they should "protest closer to home" which I assume you implied the Catholic Church. if there was something bad about the Catholic Church then they would protest, but unfortunately for you, the Catholic church is not the problem at all, people power has brought down two corrupt governments which were the problem. so your saying that they should protesting against the freedom of a family to have as many children as they want as opposed to protesting against a gloria's support of bush which in turn may make the philippines an even more potential terrorist target? geez

i totally disagree with your small but negative portrayal of the Catholic Church in the Philippines. i do not know your political affiliation, it seems you are conservative in american politics yet lean towards leftist thinking in regards to filipino culture, but just like the anti-clericals in your country, you probably believe their anti-catholic rhetoric. liberals, leftists or anyone will disagree with me but i will say that being filipinos and catholic is synonymous and even with the arrival of american heretical puritanism, communism and moral relativism found in USA cannot and will never change the positive influence of the Catholic Church. our Catholic faith, regardless of our wealth or social status, regardless of the fact it came from brutal spanish colonisers, emphasises the strength of the family unit, and because of this you will not have the kind of amorality in Philippines that you find in the USA and Europe.
