You won't find me defending big Phil. His academic troubles were inexcusable. I'm not going to fault him for coming down w/ mono though. What's a kid supposed to do, stop kissing girls???? I've heard of sacrificing for the team, but that's going too far. Even if he couldn't play because of a bad case of crabs, I'd probably excuse that too!!

The fact is, Phil has the body to play and be an impact player. But he played against soft competition on the Central Coast and he played down to that level. Phil clearly has yet to show work ethic, desire, or a drive to improve. But, he's young and this is his opportunity. His lack of playing time in the first half tonight tells me Coach B has not seen the fire in Phil yet either.
