Why are you trying to disparage your own university?.

I'm not, just pointing out that the "partying" goes on everywhere. It's not hard to find in SLO. Of course an event like Mardi Gras isn't "sponsored" by the university, but I sure remember people asking if class would be cancelled and sparse attendance the following day.

Frankly some of the CompSci stuff isn't quite as grandiose as it seems on first blush either, but in my reply I was referring to the supposed pious nature of Poly in comparison to UCSB.

To be fair, please post the article about the drunk UCSB student who in an intoxicated rage drove his car onto the sidewalk in I.V. His actions killed 3 people and injured 7 others.

The main factor in that was Attias being...well...insane. See trial details for evidence.

Then, once you've posted the article, apply to grad school at UCSB so you can rightfully claim a degree from that school and honestly wear the Gaucho blue and gold with pride.

mmmmK. Perhaps I would if they had a program in which I was interested. Leaving and then coming back doesn't make much sense, huh?
