Subject: Davis is DI-Poly records remain!

With the announcement yesterday by UC Davis to go DI, Cal Poly's records in football and DII national championships will remain unbroken at least by California colleges.

What records? Specificially, with Davis' move (which requires the Aggies to go I-AA in football) the Mustangs will remain the only California school to have won the Division II national football championship. Desipte 23 post season appearances by the Aggie Football team, UCD has never won a National Football Championship. Moreover, Poly's record for most Division II national team titles (39) will also remain remain intact.

Over the past 7 years, UC Davis has heavily promoted the fact that they have won multiple Sears Cup Trophies as the Nations #1 athletic program in Div II. True, but this only occured because Cal Poly, the nations most successful DII program ever, departed for DI eight years ago.
