The State bookstores are run by idiots. Maybe it's time they hired an alumnus to run the local stores! Tommy Bello proved that Cal-Poly is a contraction of our official name: California Polytechnic. It you go to the library archives you can see the evolution of the name in the yearbooks.

Early on: "California Polytechnic School"

50 years ago: "California State Polytechnic College"

Present: "California Polytechnic State University"

Our El Corral merchandise buyer isn't offering any designs, he is only buying what suppliers have put in front of him. (I was in Silicon Valley last month and saw a Stanford-Red sweatshirt in downtown San Jose that had a similar SJSU in identical white letters across the front. San Jose State's colors are Gold, White and Blue! It was most likely sold by the same salesman that pushed that simple generic shirt on El Corral Bookstore.)

Notre Dame, USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, etc., don't buy from these same hack suppliers. They ask their suppliers to come up with original designs...or offer suggestions of their own. A visit to any of their campus stores would be enlightening.
