Subject: Dugas'Tallavast Gaugin ""Gage""

On Feb.25th a tragety happened..... Dugas'Talavast Gaugin better known as GAGE died suddenly and unexpected.... he had a cerebral hemmorgae... as best we can figure.... he was a wonderful little mini wire haired dachshund...who when i got him was a skinny nervous wreck... the woman who owned him kept him in a cage at all times... underfed him and didnt socialize him.... so it took me 3 days to be able to even handle him.... but he came around... was a sweet dog... full of life and fun... he would run with my dogs... and would get excited after a bath and do the "" bath high"" run around the house... 2 years ago after the hurricianes here.... i was exiting my backdoor and the rains had washed away alot of dirt in my yard... i got tangled up in 2 dogs a nd my pot bellied pig... tripped opver a exposed root a nd fell... unfortunatly, Gage was under me and suffered a spinal injury.... but within a few weeks.. he was walking again,,,, altho he often looked drunk LOL... he forgave me... even if i never forgave myself...... he would bark and great us when we came home... he would snuggle on lap if i picked him up... he would bark and do a dance at dinner time.... he was w onderful gentle dog... my friend was visiting from UK and we went to outback with my hubby for supper.... we had groceries in car so hubby went in house after we arrived to let dogs out... my friend and i unloaded the truck... my hubby rushed out saying "" there is something wrong with Gage, he is wet a nd red" i rushed in. As i have done rescue many years and worked at vets, as soon as i saw i knew..... he was brain dead... blood in ears and eyes suggests a hemmorage... we was "wet" as my female boston Val was so upset she was licking him all over... we think she was trying to revive him.... i took Gage's body and set on a towel and put on top of a crate while i dug his grave... poor Val jumped up on crate to guard Gage's body..... it was sad to see... she truly understood.... whereas most dogs dont... i buried Gage on our farm...near the other furkids who passed on over the years.... he will always be remebered... as for years i longed for a wire haired dachshund in the wildboar color... next time you see a weiner dog... think of gage... as i am sure he is watching us from the bridge and waits for us to join him.... run free Gage.... play... eat and never know pain again... we love you....
