Subject: Brandy, He Fought To The End

It's been a little more than 24 hours since our Brandy lost his battle with mast cell cancer. The day before he died, he was outside playing with his brother, Sunny, and sister, Princess. He gave no sign of the disease that was eating away at him. All he ever wanted to do was to give love, and receive love. If you came to our house to visit, Brandy was the first one to come over and demand attention - ususally by planting himself firmly on your lap! Up until the very end, he was energetic and loving. Then came yesterday morning (1/30/05). I knew something was wrong when he didn't come for his medicine. All it usually took was for him to hear the rattle of his pills to have him sitting at my feet with a happy grin on his face, just waiting for his medication. When I saw him, I knew that it was time for him to go. I woke my husband, and we made the decision to call the vet. Thank God, we have a vet that is compassionate and caring. We made arrangements for her to come to the house, and at 2:00 pm, Brandy crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I have the comfort of knowing that he was surrounded by love, and he was comfortable in his own home. I was with him when he passed, and he went easy. It's now that the real hurting begins. We still look for him, and it's tought to only get treats ready for two, instead of three. The decision we made was the right one...but it still hurts. Brandy, Mom & Dad love you. We miss you, but we know you're where you belong. We'll see you one day, and then we'll cross the Bridge together. Rest easy.
