Fitz with a monster game with 26 and 17 as the ladies win 69-60 on the road. The bench came up big today for the 2 player team from Poughkeepsie accounting for 30% of Marist point total today. Gang is becoming a consistent force for the Foxes as she tallies a 7 point, 9 rebound, 2 block effort. Fine first half effort by Yarde also. Best had a tough first game back going 0-1, with one TO and a face plant during a scrum in 1 minute of action. Who said basketball wasn't a contact sport.

Next game Friday against a suddenly wobbly Griff squad that lost at Rider today.

With today's win I believe Marist has now won at least 20 games for the 6th consecutive year. Girlzaga!!!

Go Red Foxes!

One of the announcers said Gang is the next Fitz - yes or no? We have never had another Smits. Anyone shed light on how their 2 freshman years compare?

Gang's game is alot like Dahlman's. Can hit the 3 and rebounds very well. I don't recall Dahlman being able to drive to the hoop like Gang can, though Meg proved to be very crafty and tough her Jr. and Sr. years. Both are exceptional shot blockers.

Fitz has a unique set of skills. Seems like she can contort, twist, get all Gumby-like and still maintain balance and orientation for the shot or rebound. I've never seen anything quite like it. Other-world shooting accuracy on top of all her physical skills makes her so special, and makes Giorgis look so smart.

Is it just me or does the experiment with Fitz playing away from the basket more gone on the back burner? If Gang keeps playing like she has of late why not let her take the role of tall girl playing on the the perimeter. Both Dahlman and Smrdel did that very successfully while Fitz roamed the paint.

she had POY type numbers. She was also ROY and named to the second team all MAAC squad. Wasn't she also the MAAC tournament MVP? Unfair to Brandy.

Question, will any Marist rookie make the all rookie team this year?

I would say Gang is the next Dahlman...but Rachele herself has said that she sees a lot of herself in Brandy.

Agree Gang is next Dahlman, should be a real force in a few years after she gets stronger underneath and defense improves. Fitz was ROY almost every week, haven't seen any of that from this years freshmen, could be having four makes it harder to have one standout. Giorgis is certainly giving Gang the opps as her time increases and Laterzas decreases. I think the next Fitz will be coming in two years, from the girls that are being recruited as Jr's. Perhaps the Doherty girl will come and Make Giorgis dreams come true. If he doesn't get the next Fitz or a Viani, do you think an outside offer will be more appealing to him.

If you take Giorgis at his word (and I do) - I had this conversation with him on the golf course - he said he is just happy where he is and doesnt need more money, however he did say there are 2 schools he might leave for... Ohio St and Georgia Tech.
