GG you make a very good point. These kids are not NBA bound. The only reason they would go to JMU is because they want to play for a particular coach.
Yankee there should be an NCAA rule that once a HS athlete signs a LOI he/she can't follow the recruiting coach to the coaches new school.
The comment on the Maristhoop.blogspot is a good one too.
Most times the coach moves up a level and the athletes can't follow him because they would not be able to play at that higher level of D-1. Maybe one or two guys in all the MAAC could start in the BE or ACC and they are upperclassmen. They certainly would not start at the higher level as freshmen.
The coach whose name will not be mentioned did not move up; he moved sideways. Actually the CAA is ranked below the MAAC in the latest RPI. Hence the guys he recruited using our recruiting money were able to follow him. That's only because no higher level D-1 team would hire the former coach because he did not prove he had any superb coaching or recruiting ability while here in Poughkeepsie.
