A nice win for Marist tonight. They were able to bounce back from an early second half slump to take back control of the game. I would of liked to see them win this by 15-20 (which they easily could have), but a win is a win.

Mike Taylor makes big plays whenever he's on the court. KG with the best game of his career. Another solid effort from Schneider.

Vouyoukas needs to be more aggressive when he gets the ball 5 feet from the hoop. He could have easily had 10 points tonight.

What is up with Williams? Another dreadful game tonight.

LB first 6 games 10.7ppg, 7.3rpg, 55%FG, 67%FT.
LB last 9 games 3.8ppg, 3.6rpg, 38%FG, 30%FT. Ouch.

Taylor was great tonight. He plays great D and bangs jumpers. He is a very effective player. Can he get his name on his shirt??? I though Bauer did some nice work tonight. LB is in a funk. Schneider continues to be a stud. Gregory was great tonight. Very good board work. Devezin blows by guys but will not shoot. D was great tonight. Taylor helps with the trapping D. He's a hidden gem.

Good post game summaries Red Fox 5 / G Gaff / Yankee. Thanks. One concern is the prolonged offensive dry spells we go through. From what you saw last night, is this self inflicted, or the result od defensive adjustments?

Marist in my opinion goes into these dry spells because there is no way you are gonna shoot from outside consistently for the whole game. So, when they try to pound it inside, the bigs either get their shots blocked or fumble it away. Marist should have them do some type of drill where they have to dribble through the rest of teammates trying to hit the ball away with brooms to improve their handle:). Devezin also gets his shot blocked quite a bit, but that will improve probably as his heal heels.

I agree with Yankee. Teams rarely are hot from outside all night. Marist does not have anyone right now who they can bang it to down low to score. The tonic for this problem is to start driving to the hoop to create some points in the paint off the drive.

Missing Hall last night hurt us. He's the most well rounded offensive player on the team in that he is equally comfortable driving to the hoop, hitting a mid range jumper or taking a three. Can't say that about anyone else on the team. Combine no Hall with a still less that 100% Devezin and that's why last night Marist got almost nothing besides outside shots.

To win consistently there a team HAS to be able to generate some points under the hoop whether its with a guy who crashes the boards and puts back offensive rebounds, a guy who is a true post player, or guards who like to drive to the hoop and score...one way or the other you have to find a way to score in the paint or every game will have a dry spells at some point.

Devezin passess up a ton of shots, not all from deep. If this team had one consistent low post finisher, they could win the league this year. Their D was very good last night. Vouyoukas just needs to be aggressive. I actually thought Bauer did some nice things. I'll say one thing. He's not afraid of anybody.. He had a nice back down move. He needs to do that more. At the very least, he'll draw fouls.

P.S.

I really like Taylor. The kid plays smart. He's long and is very good when they trap..
