Does anyone think Dunn would lend Martin Ryan Bacon until after the 15th. ;-) That dude is tough in the paint.

UAlbany's Will Harris opened AE play by going for 17 and 10 in a losing cause against Hartford. Ugh!

He's a real nice story. Is he that good or does the team lack such depth that a walk on can make a real difference. Now where's the 6'09" walk-on low post defender we need. Its so hard to get quality big men at the MAAC level. I cant remember when we had depth up front.

remember that he really began to see minutes only after the Devezin and Hall injuries.

Streak shooter who can erupt for a nice double digit game once and a while. Will be very useful as a guy who won't get a lot a attention and can nail a jumper, just like he has been doing. He got some tough rebounds for them against St. Peters and that says a lot about his ability to compete. Maybe he earn the nickname Semi-Microwave, the Marist version of Vinnie Johnson. All hands on deck this year.

Answer to question about big men at Marist. 1985 Smits-Pekarski- Ted Taylor all on the same team. LOL

How do you forget the beast 7'1" Rudy Bourgarel who made himself eligable for NBA draft after his Jr. year - yeah that worked out for him.

I believe he returned to Hungary after his sophomore year to serve in their Army.

I try very hard to forget Rudy Bougarel. All the fluidity of C3PO of Star Wars fame. Rudy the Robot. At the time there was an old man who attended Marist games. This guy wrote so many letter to the PoJo regarding how cutting edge Marist's use of foreign players were and how that was going to be the next big thing across basketball that the PoJo finally did a feature story about him. Most people considered him a crackpot, but in hindsight he was correct and ahead of his time. His biggest mistake was latching on to Bougerel rather than Hakeem to make his case. Anybody else remember this guy?

Marist of the ECAC METRO has the most eclectic roster in the nation, with players from the Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Guadeloupe and the Bronx. But the Red Foxes, no mere walking world tour, should go places, thanks to 7'3" Dutchman Rik Smits, who burned Georgia Tech's John Salley for 22 points in 27 minutes in the NCAAs. Miroslav Pecarski, a 6'11" Yugoslav forward, joins Smits on the frontline with backup help from 6'7" Peter Krasovec of Hungary, and 7-foot Rudy Bourgarel, the Guadeloupan. Drafton Davis of the Bronx dealt 8 assists per game last season, but the Foxes must adjust to their third coach in four years and shake off a summer scandal caused by two subs who tried to outfox an assistant coach in a credit card-cam.

Whenever a Marist big gets an offensive rebound and immediately dribbles the ball (think Korey Bauer against St. Peter's) it reminds me of Miroslav. My buddy & I look at each other whenever that happens and say another Pecarski hard dribble. "Just turn and go back up"

This thread brings back some nice memories!!!

Now you guys are bringing back the memories! That was my era at Marist and I was fortunate enough to be broadcasting the games for the College station. Andy, you forgot Alain Forestier from France and the guy who I think was underrated, Mark Shamley, who was great off the bench. Who can forget the foreign twin towers? Although I ,like others, try very hard to forget Rudy Bougarel. The ONLY thing he had going for him was the fact that he as 7'1. I've never seen a guy who couldn't hang onto a basketball as much as him. He had hands of stone.

could never forget Alain Forestier he is one of the reason's I went to Marist - I was on campus summer of 86' looking at the college was supposed to meet my parents at around 6 that evening in Leo but I got there early and was just walking around alone when I ran into Alain walking campus he asked me if I wanted him to show me around and I said yeah. We went down to McCann shot baskets for a bit and then he asked if I wanted to go get a drink - I told him I couldn't as I was underage - he said no problem and I was introduced to Sidetracks that day - when I stumbled back into Leo at around 11pm drunk and my Dad was sitting in a chair waiting for me (not happy) I looked at him and said "I want to go here!" he said something about not paying for 4 years of drinking but I wasn't listening.
