Hi,

I have tested on a few scanners that connect through the parallel port, one usb Agfa SnapScan 1212U, and Panasonic and Canon SCSI scanners.

Mark sure you are not scanning while running your program from the IDE debugger. I have seen that to make the program hang, something related to the twain message loop and the debugger.
