It's a grey area, even if the thought police want everything to be black and white (so to speak).
I find most cabbies of Indian descent who have been here long enough fine. It might be stereotyping, but I usually pipe up with a conversation about cricket and I'm laughing. (only once have I been in a cab with an Indian who told me he really doesn't care for cricket)
Bonus points, though, for one who likes footy. Usually, when they've been here long enough to adopt our great game, they speak the lingo pretty well and have moved on from curry. Like Tom Haverford from Parks and Recreation.
