I spose I apologise if I insulted you, but what can i say it's what I think. On the balance of probability do I believe it is more likely that humans have invented god to make the process of life/death easier to cope with, than it is that god actually exists? Yes very much so.

But I hedge my bets by living an honest life and following my conscience. I believe that if i do that then if god does exist i will probably be given this eternal life thing anyway because i was actually a genuinely good person and they're the types they'd probably let in before some child molesting clergymen or similar. And if i'm right and he doesn't exist well then i didnt waste any time worshipping a myth during my brief time on this planet. I can't lose!

It's a topic I don't discuss with people because of this precise type of reaction. I think it's actually offensive both ways, that people think they can get shitty at me like i've done something wrong just cause I think their beliefs are myths. I wouldnt mind if they pitied me, thinking I'm a lost soul or whatever. But then I'm hardly walking around peddling my ideas like some religious pricks do. Isnt it part of some religions to have to actively go out and spread the word? Although i do acknoledge god and religion are not the same thing. Religion is more like barracking for a football team. Everyone has their different teams they like and those they hate, and some teams fans just do not get along and never will.
