Subject: Discussion re PSD drafting system, interested in your thoughts Gav

What is fair about the PSD system if Carlton do a shitload of work to entice a gun player to nominate for the PSD, only to have that player cherrypicked off by Richmond with their pick 1?

What if Richmond are incapable of enticing anyone decent to want to come to their club and to nominate for the PSD? Ok so nobody wants to go to the Tigers, so the tigers get to PSD day and all they can do is look at the final list of nominated players and just pick the best player available. But what if Carlton have done a mountain of work to convince a guy like say Andrew Embley, and Richmond haven't had anyone commit to them, then Richmond just say thank you Carlton for all your hard work and we'll take Andrew Embley now thanks. Can i ask how the hell is that fair on player or club who has done all the hard yards?

Player could be anyone, Embley's just an example, point is if Richmond aren't able to attract anyone decent to their club via the PSD then what is the point of Carlton doing any hard work to chase anyone decent? Richmond may publicly state oh we're going to go youth in the PSD, we're not chasing anyone big name, and then sit back and pray on Carlton's professionalism and ability to get someone to nominate, and then when the time comes they say ooops we were gonna go a kid but now embley's there we think we'll take him.

See my point?
