A different (but still manipulative) system would throw up different scenarios that would fuck with the priorities in different ways. I'd still resent the system but I'd reckon no priority pick and a raffle for the bottom 4 picks would stop the 'tanking' but it'd also go against a lot of what the priority pick/draft system is fundamentally designed to do. What if (lets say) North Melbourne are screwed and desperately need the picks to get better, but they dont get a priority pick and draw pick 4 in the lottery just because people dont like the perception of 'tanking'? What do you do, change the rules back again on a year by year basis depending on circumstances and whether the team in need is percieved to be worthy or not? What sort of a circus does everyone want the AFL to be? You've got to pick your system and stick with it, the rules and criteria shouldn't change just because it's footscray (opposition fans have sympathy) or carlton (opposition fans say fuck em) who is the beneficiary.

Ok well cant reply now for a few days i'm off early tomorrow and wont be back till tuesday.
