My original post in regards to Hawthorn: Think Hawthorn still have key-defender issues.

Key-defenders? Do you get that? No. Your response: Your being a bit harsh and under rating them for mine.

They virtually had as close to a flawless year last year as a team can and I see plenty of potential improvement in their list and the capability to repeat that or even exceed it in 2009.

So you're not even answering what I'm saying. My response: Where am I underrating them?

All I said is I think they're still suspect for key-defenders.

Your response: You might think their defence is suspect but what is it based on ?

When was this an issue for them in 2008 ?

They were defensively spectalour against Geelong and arguably the best defensive team throughout 2008.

I'm still talking about key-defenders. You're talking about the entire defense.

Me: That their key-defenders are Gilham and Croad, and that neither is defensively spectacular.

Have already addressed why I think they do well against Geelong's stellar forward set-up - disregarding that Geelong slaughtered them spectacularly offensively in the grand final, bar for inaccurate kicking.

You: They did the job all year.

" ... Geelong slaughtered them spectacularly offensively in the grand final ..."

Nonsense.

Nonsense? Good, logical counter-argument.

If Geelong had kicked straight, they would've won - and won relatively comfortably. Most people acknowledge that Geelong blew their chances through inaccuracy. This would suggest they were navigating the Hawthorn defense relatively easily.

Regardless, my original post asserted that Geelong's a good match-up for Hawthorn due to a lack of quality key-forwards. Of course, you've overlooked that, and used Hawthorn versus Geelong as your example! Incredible.

My original post said Hawthorn are suspect for key-defenders. Croad's going to be 29, and I know he's not as highly-rated as many think. Gilham's questionable. Who's next in line down there? Zac Dawson?

Oh yes, when was defense a problem? Fev mauled their key-defenders (get that into your head, too - my point has always been about key-defenders) in a game Hawthorn won comfortably. That would suggest to me they didn't have a key-defender to put on him.
