Bring it on.

Retain final eight. It actually makes more sense with 20 teams.

20 rounds - 19 where each team plays every other team once (swap home and away each year). Maybe use the other so Essendon and c'wood can have their annual "we're the big two" love-in. Freo v WCE, Bris v GC, etc.

No more draws that see some clubs have to play more of the previous year's finalists - no more arguments about blockbuster games. Aside from our contrived rivalry round, everyone gets everyone exactly the same amount of times as everyone else. And if our contrived rivalry round happens for 10 years, those rivalries must eventually become real rivalries, just as the conference rivalries have become in the NFL.

Can the talent pool cope with 20 teams? Well, yes. It may mean clubs are forced to keep some players on the list longer because a champion 36 year old might be a better option than the 150th best draftee. It may mean teams might have to make a choice between a slow bloke with skills versus a quick bloke who sprays, instead of "prototype" footballers who are supposed to be both.

To make the spread easier, let's go back to two-man interchange benches. Force coaches to manage the fitness of their players instead of trying to have a rotating crew running at 100 per cent the whole time.

Yup, add Tassie (who cares if the crowds are only 10,000 - the quids are more about TV and advertising rights anyway), and add Perth.

Yep. Bring it on.
