Subject: Apparently? Since when has any player in modern AFL history ever gone back onto a field after a dislocated shoulder
In reply to: PTP 's message, "Dislocated shoulder, apparently." on 17/07/12 10:47am

To my eye I think if he had his shoulder damaged it's more likely to have happened when the NM players pushed Judd as he still had hold of the blokes arm. Hard to see but it looks like that action yanked the arm.

I have to admit as a fight fan I am not as sensitive to someone holding an arm like Judd did. You want to see how to do an armlock go watch Mir vs Nogueira 2 now that's an armlock my friend.

I'm still trying to work out if what Judd did was actually against the rules?

'Misconduct' is a relative thing isn't it? 30 years ago players got on the piss, ciggies, punch ons, completely normal. Now you get sacked and your name in lights as a person of poor character.

I can see how someone might think an intent to hurt was there, but I think plenty of 'intent to hurt' incidents happen as a matter of course during most games and as long as it's within the rules I don't have a massive problem with 'intent to hurt'.

If you ask me what I REALLY think, it's same as always, Carlton are everyone's most despised club, Judd is Carlton, evil bad guys etc. Different perspective and different reactions simply because it's Carlton - thus the media sensationalising it and dickheads like pugs doing their moral posturing.

But if you stick to the facts without emotion I'd repeat the question, did he break the rules? If the shoulder got hurt when it was yanked as the NM players pushed Judd then I think it's just one of those things and you move on.

Though guilty or not Judd has already copped a pretty good character assassination in the media.
