Subject: No UNCP OT has nothing to do with Teen/Miss Lumbee and they never have. UNCP's OT is appointed because the pageant is sponsored by the school and the money from school can only be provided to the Miss who actually attends UNCP. So leave the whole Teen/Miss Lumbee out of it. It is two toally different pageants!!!! It is an "open" application process which means that anyone can apply. I think admission is free for them. ..and if they can't hold a teen pageant right aling with the Big Miss pageant because they can't have non-students up there, then why are they allowed to have the teen and princess queens entertain. I guess if UNC-CH and UNC Charlotte and NC State, etc. etc. etc. were to come into the system, would they be allowed to appoint , as well ? -- No name, 15:09:30 10/29/09 Thu NC would have to get an ED to have the pageant, and while most, if not all of the OT's have been Lumbee, anyone can apply for the position. While the position is "appointed", it is a competition in every sense of the word. You have to compete on paper and video, and I believe, harder to get the actual appointment since talent is considered a major factor in the choosing. There are normally several applicants who apply, but only one chosen: just like in a "real" pageant. Instead of an applicant "presenting" themselves on-stage, they "present" themselves on paper and video. At least in a "staged" pageant, there is an actual interview to help decide who receives the appointment.
